You are invited to submit a workshop proposal for the 7th BC Rural Communities Summit: : A joint conference of the BC Rural Network and Community Futures Boundary

June 7 – 9, 2012 – Grand Forks Secondary

Summit Overview

The BC Rural Network and Community Futures Boundary will bring together rural stakeholders from across BC to learn firsthand about effective and practical approaches to empowering rural communities in the challenges and opportunities presented to them by a changing climate and a climate of change for rural BC. Building on the success of previous Summits, this event will engage participants through a variety of information sessions, interactive workshops, skills development, debates and dialogue. Grassroots, Growing Sustainable Rural Communities offers participants the opportunity to explore today’s most innovative strategies in building a sustainable rural economy.

Summit Goals 

•To create and enhance awareness around issues of importance to rural and remote communities across all regions of BC.

• To provide participants with practical tools and strategies that can be translated into actions for communities

• To offer valuable opportunities to network with and learn from rural colleagues.

Audience

Grassroots, Growing Sustainable Rural Communities is expected to attract 150 delegates from a cross section of the rural communities in BC and beyond. Participants will be representatives of rural, remote and northern communities, private, public and non-profit organizational sectors, educational institutions, youth, and all orders of government (Federal, Provincial, Municipal and First Nations).
